This painting is a study for my upcoming new large painting “Black Dress-II”. ....“Black dress” series started with the first one (HERE) I did and sold a while ago. I've gotten so much positive responses from this subject that I’ve decided to paint a similar composition but in a larger size and with a model turning around and showing her face. After I completed the painting above (I think it turned out pretty cool), I began a really big one. And finally I ended up with a HUGE 36"x64" painting. It’s still wet, but I’m planning to post a picture here and offer it for sale probably at the end of this week.

Technically this painting and "Against the Light -I" ( the one below) were the most difficult I ever done with palette knife. The challenge was to carefully blend the thick oil, applied with palette knife, to create the sheer, transparent curtain folds that fall over the body hidden behind. I used the brush in "Against the Light -II" painting in some places to achieve subtle see-through effect.
I've enjoyed working on these pieces, and am excited about continuing with this subject matter and possible even in a larger format.

“Black Dress” painting has attracted a lot of attention and I decided to create series of paintings similar to it. I have to say that the white color is the most difficult and challenging to paint.
It was also challenging to paint the body covered by sheer curtains using palette knifes only.

I believe these paintings represent some of my best work to date.
